A race against time, 90s style thriller, The Wave follows a geologist desperately trying to prevent a natural disaster when a mountain begins to collapse into the ocean, creating a tsunami of devastating proportion.
The Wave is a stunning vision of a fearsome, intense disaster no one could ever truly prepare for, set again one man’s commitment to prevent all-out tragedy. Set in Norway's Sunnmøre region, the town of Geiranger is one of the most spectacular tourist draws on the planet, yet it harbors the constant threat of disaster, with the mountain Åkerneset potentially collapsing into the fjord at any moment. After working at Geiranger's warning center for years, constantly monitoring the mountain to provide occupants a warning to evacuate should the rockslide start, geologist Kristian is preparing to depart for a more prestigious job with an oil company. On his last day, two sensors appear to malfunction, and Kristian can't shake the feeling that the doomsday they're all expecting is imminent. While his colleagues initially doubt him, as more sensors start reporting strange readings, Kristian worst fears are about to be realized. Echoing such great disaster films as Twister and Deep Impact, The Wave is Norway’s proud entrance into the pure popcorn canon.
