Betty and V, two teen girls on the verge of adulthood, sneak into Hungary’s biggest music festival resulting in a wild night that tests the bonds of friendship.
After crafting an elaborate lie for their parents, best friends Betty and V hop a train to Budapest in hopes of sneaking into Sziget, an open air music festival pulsing with youthful energy. Fueled by their newly found independence, the girls meet up with a handsome drug dealer and buy some weed to sell at the festival. But as they get wrapped up in the thrill of the scene, the girls’ personal differences begin to affect their friendship. Betty, the more modest of the two, is annoyed by V’s carefree and flirty ways, and a rift begins to form between them. The decisions they make during the night lead them to split from one another: Betty leaves, V stays. As they take on the night individually, they realize how much harder it is to confront adulthood alone. Set against an exhilarating festival backdrop, director Yvonne Kerékgyártó’s coming of age film authentically captures youth and the nuances of female friendships.
