Bridgend

Based on haunting true events, Bridgend takes place in a rural town in Wales that has an escalating crisis of teenage suicides. Sara is the new girl in town, and as she becomes enamored with the cult-like group of teens, she starts to lose her grip on reality.

Bridgend (director Jeppe Rønde's feature-length debut) is entirely unsettling. A group of teenagers linked to a series of cult-like suicides is quickly fascinated with the new girl in town, Sara (Game of Thrones’ Hannah Murray). She, too, is intrigued by this mysterious and close-knit band of friends who are bound together by the tragic events that seem to have no end in sight. Sara’s father, a cop, attempts to figure out the mystery while Sara becomes more deeply involved with the circle of teens and falls in love with one of the young men. This film finds its way under your skin with haunting scenes and plot twists, but remains balanced out by lush visuals and striking landscapes. At once disquieting and beautiful, this film will leave you questioning everything.
